It is not mandatory to enroll in ballet, but students will experience success with ballet training in addition to jazz class.
LYRICAL (ages 7 to adult)
Lyrical dance is a term to describe the combination of ballet, jazz, and modern dance. It is a beautiful artform. The music used is generally contempory ballads. Dancers that particpate in this class have the most success if they are currently enrolled in ballet and jazz.

"In ten lessons, you'll feel the difference.
In 20 lessons, you'll see the difference.
In thirty lessons, you will have a whole, new body."

Level two will begin to introduce vocals with movement. Level three will completely intermix vocals with dancing.
PREVIOUS VOCAL TRAINING IS NOT REQUIRED!!!
HIP HOP (ages 6 to adult)
Hip Hop classes have become very popular at Dance Gallery. The movements in this class are tasteful, but very cutting edge. The best way to describe this form of dance is that is it much like what you would see in music videos.
With that being said, the studio has a strict policy on appropriateness in terms of movement and music. Although hip hop can seem a bit too "edgy" for many, we have made a commitment to appropriate dress, music, and movement.
The dancers love this form of dance, and the parents are content with the instructors' pursuit to offer hip hop in an appropriate manner.
"FAITH IN MOTION" LITURGICAL DANCE (7 yrs to adult)
The Dance Gallery has developed an ecumenical outreach program that emphasizes the use of movement to traditional and contemporary Christian music in worship services. The term commonly used to describe this movement is "Liturgical Dance."
Each lesson begins in prayer. Then, the students are lead through a series of exercises designed to strengthen & stretch the body, while teaching gracefulness & coordination needed for dance.
This dance group will travel to churches in or near Sioux Falls to participate in worship services using the dances that were created during class. If your organization has questions about this group, please contact Jackie Pederson-Kriens for more information or Amy Hofer for scheduling and coordinating times for "Faith in Motion" to participate in your worship event.
