What is Dance Gallery Productions?
Dance Gallery Productions is Dance Gallery's semi-professional performance team in which the group travels to events in the region to perform and compete. Dance Gallery Productions will give you dancers an opportunity to learn and perform in a professional, positive, and friendly atmosphere. Young dancers love to be onstage, and competition teams give dancers this opportunity.
Most competitions contain levels of placement, age, and style categories. Each competition has its own point system and scores according to this. Teams go home with medals or trophies distinguishing their placement in the competition (platinum, gold, silver, etc.) Most competitions will give each individual a medal or ribbon coinciding with their score. Dancers leave the competition proud of their accomplishment and excited to compete and perform again and again!
Benefits of Competition Teams
Competition is not just about winning. It is about dancers striving to perform at their personal best. It takes a great deal of courage to get on a stage and perform. Quality performing arts training will enrich the young dancers' lives by contribution to the development of...
- Self Discipline
- Physical Well Being
- New Friendships with Peers
Students also learn teamwork and dedication through competition opportunities, rehearsals and other performances. Competition is a chance to expose dancers to opportunities that will increase their dance knowledge and training. Competition gives the young dancer more opportunities to perform dance as an art form, as well as the opportunity to represent Dance Gallery. Winning will never be emphasized over training. The primary goal of competition is for each student to feel inspired, achieve their potential, and enjoy the many benefits dance has to offer; while learning in a positive, supportive, structured environment.
Dance Gallery Production members are expected to be dedicated to all rehearsals and time requirements. There is a weekly rehearsal time scheduled for each group. Since this is a “team effort” rehearsal requirements are expected to be upheld by every team member. While occasional absences will be excused, continuous absences will not be allowed. If your dancer is very involved in numerous school activities; Dance Gallery Productions may not be a good fit for them.
*Additional time requirements and expectations, financial commitment requirements, class training requirements, and recital requirements are laid out in the application form.
