Leap 'n learn curriculum - Pre Ballet & Creative Movement - Children 3-7 years old

We are the only studio in the Sioux Falls area licensed to teach the Leap 'N Learn curriculum. Leap 'N Learn is a dance curriculum written by Beverly F. Spell with applied expertise from child psychologist Dr. Annie Spell, Ph.D.

Leap 'N Learn has a deep understanding of the progression of movement in children and integrates into the curriculum child development. Children are placed in age specific class levels and students work on exercises which are physically, emotionally and mentally appropriate for them. Teachers utilize developmentally appropriate lesson plans that engage the child's creativity as well as stimulate their educational learning.

Ms. Jackie's thoughts on how Leap 'N Learn will benefit your dancer.

“I am so excited that Dance Gallery of SD has been able to implement the Leap ‘N Learn curriculum. The Leap ‘N Learn curriculum is designed to flow into any style of dance (ballet, jazz, tap, hip hop modern, contemporary, etc.). Within the Leap ‘N Learn curriculum your child will work on skills that every type of dance requires in order to be successful, but a few objectives I find to be important apply to…

Dancer Manners, Sharing, Working with others cooperatively, Problem solving, Encouraging dancers to think creatively and use their imaginations which is something that is getting lost in this age of high level technology use.

Our entire ballet program is set up to gradually progress at the child’s current age in the beginning. By the time the dancers move into the Cecchetti Syllabus and Non-Syllabus classes, the dancers have already developed a solid foundation for teachers to work with in order to get dancers to progress safely.” - Jackie Pederson-Kriens, Dance Gallery of SD Director & Owner
